Richard Felix has lived in Melville for 25 years. He is married to his wife of 33 years, Sherri, a Pre-K teacher and school administrator at Farmingdale State College, and has three children, all of whom graduated from the Half Hollow Hills East School District: Bari, Michael and Rachel.

He is a successful business law attorney who has concentrated his practice in new business formations, business transactions, risk mitigation, employee relations and estate planning. He is also the owner of a commercial insurance agency founded in 1968. He earned his Juris Doctorate from New York Law School and his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the State University of New York at Albany. He is also a graduate of the Rockefeller College of Public Affairs.

Richard is admitted to the New York State Bar and is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court. He has served in numerous leadership positions in several bar organizations, including chairman of the board of the Nassau Lawyers Association and member of the Nassau County Bar Association. In addition, he spearheaded scholarship and mentorship programs for college and law students seeking advice and internships for the practice of law.

He has also served in leadership roles within the community. He is the past president of The Country Pointe Homeowners Association in Melville. In his role, he increased security for homeowners, created homeowners advisory committees and restored playgrounds in the community.

Additionally, Richard is a member of the Moose Lodge in Greenlawn and a past board member of the New York State Motor Truck Association.

Richard is an active supporter of local charities, including St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Cooper Union, Brandeis University, the USGA-First Tee Program and the SUNY-Albany Scholarship Fund. An amateur musician, he is also a supporter of the local arts and music community.

In his spare time, Richard enjoys golf, boating, tennis and skiing.
