The results of this year's elections will likely come down to the absentee voters. In 2015, we lost a local election by just 20 absentee votes and in 2017, critical Suffolk County races were decided by absentee voters! The stakes are even higher this year -- the future direction of our Town hangs in the balance...
If you or a Republican you know - a college student, senior citizen or snowbird - might not be able to make it to the polls on Election Day, Tuesday, November 6th, please share this information with them or print the absentee ballot application for them and get them to vote absentee. Doing so can help Republicans win this year!
Absentee ballot applications must be postmarked on or before Tuesday, October 30th.
Here are the simple instructions on how to vote absentee:
1a) Download and print an absentee ballot application form
1b) Complete the form, using these directions:
- Box 1: Check the first box "absence from county."
- Box 2: Check "General Election only."
- Box 3: Your name.
- Box 4: Your date of birth and "Suffolk"
- Box 5: Your street address where you are registered to vote. (NO PO Boxes!)
- Box 6: Ignore
- Box 7: Check "Mail to me" and fill in the address where you want your ballot sent. Election law does not allow the post office to forward the ballot, so provide the address where you will be.
- Box 8: Sign and date.
(Ignore the request below your signature for witness to mark, etc.)
1c) Mail the application(s) to:
Suffolk County Board of Elections
Absentee Ballot Department
P.O. Box 700
Yaphank, NY 11980
Or hand-deliver the application to the Board of Elections at 700 Yaphank Avenue in Yaphank. (If you hand deliver it, the BOE will give you a ballot immediately.)
2a) Receive your Ballot. Your actual ballot will be mailed to you at the location you specified in Box 7. Typical turnaround time is about one week.
2b) Vote Republican. Stray marks can invalidate your ballot, so please keep it neat! All the best candidates can be found on Row B! :)
2c) Insert your ballot into the tan envelope that is provided by the BOE. Date and sign the envelope, then seal it. (Only voters who are physically or mentally unable to complete their signature must complete the information regarding "witness to mark.")
Then Insert the tan envelope into the white envelope provided by the BOE with the following address: Suffolk BOE, P.O. Box 700, Yaphank, NY 11980
2d) Use the necessary postage and ensure your ballot is postmarked no later than the day before Election Day, Monday, November 5th!
Start by downloading an absentee ballot application.
Sincerely,
Toni Tepe
