Its not the Presidents responsibility to apologize, It belongs to the Congress. Congress represented the American People, the President represents the United States, the leader of the Free World. The President does not apologize, for what happened. The American People owe an apology to the Native Indians, via a bill passed by Congress and the Senate, then forwarded to the President for Signature.

    I applaud Senator Flanagan.

    We must draw the line.

We no longer can be the keeper for all.

    Simply, because we are broke.

Good job Senator…we agree keep them out until we can come up with a better process, especially in light of whats has been happening with ISIS…and BTW how about our president refusing to acknowledge or apologize to the Native Americans, Bill????

This is a totally Un-American approach to immigration. This country is built on immigration, Syrians have been Immigrating to this country since the 1800’s. This particular ethnic group, has flourished in America, no problems. In 1882, President Chester A. Author, (former Govenor of New York) signed the Chinese Exclusion Act, the first law to ever single out a particular race, segment of the population, because of what we didn’t understand. It was called the “Yellow Peril” and remained in effect until 1943, after that there was a quota placed on countries for Immigration. In 1965, Lyndon B. Johnson at the Statue of Liberty , introduced the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1965. (enacted in 1968). Eliminating the Nation of Origin Quota’s.

President Johnson at the time, " The old systems violates the basic principles of American democracy, the Principles that values and rewards each man, on the basis of his merit as a man. It has been Un-American to the highest sense in that, because it has been untrue to the faith that brought thousands to these shores, even before we were a Country".

SJR 23, and SCR 122 formally requires Congress to apologise for laws that led to the persecution of the Chinese.

There is no crime being a Syrian, Chinese, White, Black or Hispanic, There is a crime against discriminating an individual based upon race, creed, color, religion, sexuality, and gender (non specific). The fear mongering by our elected officials, is a blight on America, and a diservice to her citizens. America is strong, the people, idealogy, and desire to be free is even stronger. If anything the continuing fear placed into the citizenry by our elected officials only serves to make us weaker. A shooting takes place at a school, that’s horrible. To use that fear to restrict Americans from the use of firearms, weakens us, It doesn’t really make a differance anywhere else. There are more legal guns, owned by the citizenry nationwide, that makes some states the largest Army in the world. As an American, and a soldier, I have been to battle, As a soldier, we brought America and its values to foreign shores, and garanteed freedom to safety to all the shores our feet have landed. World War I, II, Iraq, Afganistan, Vietnam and Korea, Grenada, Panama. America can handle itself, the citizens if allowed will protect themselves and others. Tyranny and Terrorism will never flourish in our society. We are being subjeted to terrorism from our elected officials to instill fear in all Americans, forcing us to be Un-American.

America has never been always on the right side, in our own country, we have and continue to violate a moral and ethical code, we are inviolate of our own principles and constitution. But we learn, we always learn the hard way, with bumps and bruises and sometimes broken bones.

The failure to remember History will force us to repeat it,

In the words of President Roosevelt, in response to the Japanese Attack on Pearl Harbor. " We have nothing to fear, but fear itself".

To my elected Officials, “If you can’t stand the heat, get out of the kitchen”.

Stop taking American Freedoms by Fear, Stop making us as a Country weak, and afraid. Move over, get out of the way, Let real Americans, Irish, Italian, French, Russian, Chinese, and people from every nation on the Globe, do your position, in an American Fashion, Immigrants that made the Country what it is today.

Terrorists bombed New York with airplanes, but it wasn’t the first time they attacked the Towers, did we stop the Saudi’s from Immigrating? No, why? because they are rich, but regular New Yorkers will remember, not with fear, but anger. Americans will remember Paris, Mali, Palestine, Israel and every where Terrorism wants to play. Its our anger, the violation of Basic Human Rights and Freedoms, that pissess us off,

Get a backbone, peddle your fear elsewhere. Stay off my corner, no hanging out in the street. Pick up the trash. I say America is no punk, she, us can handle it. We have been fighting a war without a foreign policy, or even desired result. Tell the Forces to eliminate ISIS, ISIL, Al-Qieda, and anyone else who wants to take the position to make us fear. Stop being afraid, put 200,000 troops on the ground, The US on one side, Russia on the other, and we will meet in the middle, shake hands.

War isn’t a game, or for the weakhearted.

What many people don’t understand and that the Democrats are painting a VERY broad stroke over is that this refusal to allow the refugees here is NOT a comparison to the Jews coming from Europe during Hitler’s regime. We are not living in the same type of world even as then, and terrorism is much more pervasive in our society than it had been before. Comparing Syrian Refugees to the Jews diminishes even what Hitler did to the Jews. He killed millions of them! The crisis was over many years and under much different circumstances. We cannot be ignorant in how we manage the Syrian Refugees. While my heart goes out to them, I also must question our national security when allowing entry here. If we don’t have a system for vetting out these refugees, how will we maintain our national security? Thank you, John Flanagan for standing up for the people.

The refugee crisis in Syria took a turn for the worse when President Obama withdrew our forces from Iraq. This let ISIS fill the vacuum and they slaughtered thousands of innocent civilians. ISIS has already infiltrated the refugees with some of their fighters. This was proven in the cowardly attacks in Paris France. Syrian refugees have been caught trying to enter the USA via our southern border. Others have been caught in central America with Greek passports like they had in France. The Democrats have shown that American lives don’t matter but their political correct agenda does. Setting up a safe zone in Syria with coalition troops to protect innocent civilians is the correct and humane way to go.
