A Suffolk County report finds that accidents have risen at intersections since red-light cameras were installed, and Suffolk County Legislator Robert Trotta (R-Fort Salonga) wants the red-light program stopped.
Suffolk Republican Legislator Robert Trotta sees the lights as a problem, and he is calling for an immediate suspension of the program. He accused County Executive Steve Bellone of turning Suffolk residents into crash-test dummies.
At 44 of the 100 intersections with cameras, the frequency of injury accidents through the end of 2014 increased compared with the three-year period before the program was implemented in 2010, Newsday reported in an analysis of the report.
