Assemblymen Raia & Lupinacci Host Mock Press Conference

Last week, Assemblymen Chad A. Lupinacci and Andrew P. Raia held a mock press conference at the South Huntington Public Library. The mock conference gave approximately 100 students from several Suffolk County high schools the opportunity to experience what official press conferences entail.

“I had a great time speaking with all these wonderful students,” said Lupinacci. “I hope today's event grew the student's interests in media, government and journalism and should they chose to pursue a career in the media, I wish them the best of luck. I was asked very good questions today and it’s important these students understand that a strong press is crucial to accountable and transparent government.”

“I want to thank all of the educators who brought their students to the event,” Raia said. “To watch a press conference on television is one thing, but to be able to ask questions and interact with the speaker is a completely different experience. It was a pleasure to meet some of the young adults in our community and hopefully this event was rewarding for them.”

The high schools that attended the event were Brennen High School, Brentwood High School, Deer Park High School, Half Hollow Hills High School West, Huntington High School, John Glenn High School, North Babylon High School, Walt Whitman High School and West Islip High School.
